Been Away

Well I have been away for a while, I am still getting used to posting in a blog. I have since switched to a MineLab Sovereign GT and no longer have the Garrett GTI 2500. The reason I switched was mainly for the simplicity of the machine and the reputation of the Sovereigns for depth and reliability. I am not saying the GTI was not a great machine, it most definitely is. But for my taste, I have found the Sovereign GT is much better for me. I am still saving up for a water machine, probably a PI. I have been on 15 hunts with the Sov so far and have pulled in over $14.00 in clad, a silver ring and a silver feather (broken pendant). I will continue to post and am looking forward to making some videos very soon. Happy Hunting!

New Park To Hunt

I went to my usual "Secret Park" yesterday morning and pulled out $1.50 in clad, not bad for an hour of work. Sorry no picture of those finds. I didn't have much time unfortunately and it was frigid out and I was a bit cold. But after all my errands were done for the day, I took another hour out and went to a different park. I found a dime right away next to the path leading to the grass. I started searching around the seating area of the baseball diamond there and ended up with $1.46 in clad all at 3 - 5 inches down. It seems like this place hasn't been hunted much if at all, I will be going back for sure!

Total So Far

Well I sat down and counted up my coins that I have found with my Garrett GTI 2500 since I bought it. After I bought it, I went out a few times, then ran out of time to use it and so it sat for almost a year with no use. But since I started again I have collected $30.39 including three wheatback pennies and one silver Washington quarter. I am saving up for a new machine, and my finds are going to go towards its purchase. I will keep my GTI but I want to get a good beach/surf machine as well.

Bust

Well we went for the night hunt, and it was a bust! Either I didn't have my machine set up right or there was just too much mineralization for the GTI. Anyway I came away with my tail between my legs and a pouch full of junk. Oh well, the bright side was that the sunset was spectacular! Even a bad hunt can be great, cuz I am outdoors and breathing in the fresh air!

Night Hunt

My buddy and I are going to go night hunting tonight, man I can't wait! We have picked our spot, I checked with the PD and all is good. I heard about this spot from a friend, he says he has found many old silver coins here, so we'll see how it goes tonight and I will post our finds tomorrow with pics!

Morning at the Park

January 29. 2011

4:30 came quickly, I jumped out of bed and threw my clothes and boots on. I had planned to visit a park I discovered six months before. I had taken my metal detector there and spent an hour or so without much focus and found a few coins ranging from surface to five inches down. Most of the stuff I found buried was from the '70's. So I figured that this park had not been searched and it was now mine! I decided I wouldn't go there often, I don't want to draw attention. So it had been about six months, and it was time to hit it hard. I spent six hours there on Saturday morning and pulled 73 coins out equalling about $3.48 in clad, a kids electroplated gold ring severely bent from a commercial lawn mower, a hot wheels car to add to my growing collection, and a cheap silver necklace that a young girl might wear. I will provide pics soon of this find. It was a great day! Boy am I sore from all the bending down. :) I will be going back soon, I have a lot of work ahead of me!
